Composition and advantages of staple

Staple is typically available in two varieties: blend and cotton.

  • Cotton is made of 100% cotton, breathable, its structure is thin, soft and pleasant to the body. Among the disadvantages – the material does not stretch and wrinkles easily.
  • Blend (classic type) consists of cotton in combination with viscose and lavsan. Thanks to the presence of such additives, the material almost does not wrinkle and at the same time remains as light and breathable as cotton. Blend staple is hygroscopic, so it is ideal for summer. It does not fade, does not stretch or fade, stretches well and is pleasant to the touch.

Care features

Hand washing is necessary for staples up to 40 °C. Only the gentle cycle in the washing machine is acceptable. Manual spinning. Staples are ironed from the inside using cotton gauze or thin cloth.

You should consider the fact that this fabric shrinks considerably when sewing staple products. For this reason, we advise washing, drying, and ironing the cut before beginning to sew.

Staple cloth dresses are well-liked for their adaptable styles and lightweight comfort, which make them ideal for both casual and formal ensembles. Selecting the appropriate patterns and knowing which sewing techniques work best with this fabric are essential to making lovely staple dresses that fit and look great.

Silhouettes

For summer dress sewing, sewn fabrics work best. However, what kind of item ought to be stitched? Here are a few fundamental styles to consider.

  • A-line dress. Length – to the knee. We recommend making the neckline shallow, the shape – semicircle or square. Pairs well with lantern or "wing" sleeves.
  • Straight-cut sundress dress. The length of the product varies from just above the knee to mid-calf. Closed neckline or boat neckline. A teardrop neckline with ties will look good. A straight silhouette is perfect for plump girls – thanks to the loose cut, the dress does not fit the figure, and the elongated model visually stretches the figure, making it slimmer. We recommend decorating the lower edge of such a dress with braid, neat lace or delicate embroidery.
  • A-line dress. Length – above the knee. Sleeves are either absent or made in the form of small wings or bat.00
  • Patchwork dress. Suitable for any type of appearance. It goes well with wicker handbags and wide -brimmed hats.
  • Sarafan on the floor with high waist. Sarafan with a tight -fitting bodice. The neck of the senior, the neckline is decorated in the form of a semicircle or square.
  • Elongated dress with a neckline. A tight -fitting bodice, a narrow sleeve to the elbow or a little lower, a little senior at the armhole. Skirt – flashed from the waist, length to ankles.

Features of work with the stapel

Even a sewing novice! The fabric is "obedient" in that it is easily ripped and cut. There are drawbacks, though. Because the fibers are fairly bulky, you will need to perform seams with closed sections in the castle, such as French or linen, to strengthen the final product and give it a neat appearance.

We advise using overlock to process portions of stitched parts if you are unfamiliar with this method. This is not the place for a machine zigzag stitch; it won’t be able to secure the threads and will make the seams look sloppy after the first wash. Remember to iron your seams while sewing—always through gauze and best done with steaming—to prevent the fabric from taking on an "oily" sheen.

Pattern and technology of sewing a dress in the Russian style

A floor-length dress is drafted from a Nyonok shirt pattern. For sewing a dress, any breathable, wrinkle-resistant fabric will work. We utilize staples in this master class. You’ll need roughly 5 meters for a dress, with a 1.5-meter roll width. We will need an additional 60 centimeters for the petticoat.

The canvases’ measurements are shown in the drawing below. As previously mentioned, the staple breaks well along both longitudinal and transverse threads.

How to sew a dress from staples: step-by-step master class

Yoke

Take an old sheet and cut out a yoke (in our case, size 48-50) to choose.

Two yoke. We strengthen the yoke itself and process the neck.

After cutting out the blanks, we sew them together by pinning them together.

To improve the part’s turning, we cut the stitch allowance after stitching.

The stitched sections are then unfolded, and because the fabric is translucent, we can see that the allowance was carefully turned to the side on the wrong side. Next, on the side where the allowance is turned over, we stitch as close to the seam as we can while straightening the staple under the foot.

This is what we ultimately obtained. We mop.

Completed. The wrong side of the stitching is visible. You can omit this step, but then the neckline won’t look as nice. We preheat.

Gussets

Gussets are sewn in. The components have a side length of 15 centimeters and are shaped like a square.

The yoke is sewn to the first tier of the frill. The front portion of the yoke and frill are sewn first, and then the lining is manually sewn from the wrong side.

The gusset is sewn to the sleeve, and the sleeve is then sewn to the yoke’s shoulder cut.

We will ultimately arrive at the following:

There’s an additional way to sew in the gusset. We advise using the dress blank if it fits you snugly. The fabric fallout will require the yoke to be torn open and recut. After all the adjustments, the sleeve has a sewn-in gusset and looks like this.

This is useful to you.

The gusset is now sewn in place.

The yoke, sleeve, and frill sizes are as follows; however, please take note that the frills are only on half of the garment—the front or back. The bottom numbers, which measure 3 m by 28 cm, are difficult to see.

The long dress is ready once the bottom and yoke are sewn together!
