Dewspo is popular in sportswear and outdoor gear because it is also simple to maintain.

History and description

What kind of fabric is dewspo? The name "dewspo" itself is a combination of two English words "dew" and "polymer". Dewspo also has a second name (which is important to know so as not to get confused) – "Poly pongee". Dewspo jacket fabric is produced by plain weaving of polyamide threads. The result is a dense and wear-resistant and damage-resistant material, very pleasant to the touch. The density of the fabric duspo is 240 tons (tex), so the definition of "dense" in our description can be put in first place. This value means the number of threads on one square inch of the surface, both in the warp and in the weft. But it is not the weaving technique that gives the material all its positive properties. For example, moisture resistance and many other characteristics of the fabric duspo are the result of impregnation with polymers.

Types

A unique marking can be seen on the label of a product made from this material. We’ll assist you in interpreting it:

  • Duspo "Milki" is a fabric impregnated with a water-repellent layer of white color, which is usually applied to the reverse side. Such material is smooth, slightly shiny. Its bright color does not fade and does not fade for a long time. In addition, with this impregnation, the down filler will never start to come out, which means that milky is irreplaceable when sewing down jackets
  • Duspo bonding is a fabric obtained by combining a polymer fabric and a soft lining on a knitted base. Very often, fleece is used in the production of bonding. Bonding is just such a material whose characteristics (protection from cold and moisture) are much higher than those of fabrics made from natural fibers.
  • "Peach skin". This impregnation (translated as peach skin) gives the fabric a velvety structure. Such material is very pleasant to the touch and is used for everyday and sportswear of the highest class.
  • PU is a transparent impregnation that protects against moisture, exposure to chemicals and organic substances (for example, sweat or fat). This layer differs from milky in its transparency, which allows it to be applied not only to the back, but also to the front side of the product
  • WR – after this water-repellent layer is applied to the surface of the fabric, water will roll off it in drops
  • Rey is an impregnation that gives the material additional rigidity and a pearlescent shade
  • CIRE – the material impregnated in this way becomes shiny
  • Jacquard – designation of textured surface
  • Punching – fabric with perforation. Usually it is used for decorative inserts.

The cost per linear meter, which begins at 70 rubles, is also dependent on impregnation.

Composition

The material is impregnated and contains 100% polyester. On our website, you can also read about taslan, another polyester-based material.

Characteristics

Polymer impregnations have given Dewspo the following advantageous characteristics:

  1. Wind protection. This material is practically windproof
  2. With the previous property, surprisingly, the material perfectly allows air to pass through. A person who wears a product from this material will not feel the “greenhouse effect”
  3. In such clothes, a person will not get wet even in heavy rain
  4. Durability, wear resistance and durability. The material is not afraid of numerous bends, frost and sunlight
  5. And, in addition to everything, it is soft and lightweight

Variety of synthetic materials

Let us briefly discuss the materials used in raincoats. The online argument over whether polyamide (which you can learn more about in our other article) or duspo is superior to membranes never goes away. Every choice has supporters who are prepared to stand up for it. People who value air permeability, wind resistance, duspo – lightness, etc. p., favor this membrane. However, impregnation still contributes a great deal of additional properties to the fabric, and this is why it should be highlighted.

Prior to debating whether taslan, duspo, or biflex is preferable—more on biflex in the following article—you should read the label and select the fabric based on the qualities that impregnation imparts. In actuality, though, the fabrics used for raincoats are all fairly similar to one another and hardly differ at all.

Application

  • What is sewn from this material? The main focus is, of course, sportswear and outerwear: jackets, down jackets, winter suits, etc.
  • In addition, the properties of the material (beauty and protection) allow it to be used in the production of baby strollers, chairs, carriers, sleds
  • Dewspo is indispensable in the production of tourist equipment.
  • Dewspo with "Peach Skin" impregnation is used as upholstery for upholstered furniture.

Care

Maintaining this material’s protective qualities is crucial to its upkeep. And this is what is needed in order to do this:

  • Wash in water not hotter than 40 degrees
  • Do not use cleaning agents with chlorine
  • Carefully read the label on the product. We can only give general recommendations, but the label contains instructions for a specific item
